Brahmāṇḍaḥ and Universe
For me the biggest find of 2011, the Sanskrit word for universe: ब्रह्माण्डः(brahmāṇḍaḥ) comes from the root ब्रिह्(brih) which means ‘to expand’. The modern science discovered this expanding attribute of the universe only in 1930s and the word meaning “one…something rotated, rolled, changed”- ‘universe’ is the English word.

Guerrilla-style attack on Satan's kingdom →
This is why I believe Christian evangelism and conversion should be banned in India and around the world.
Why focus on children at all? Stravers explains, “Ministry to children is more of a guerrilla-style attack on Satan’s kingdom because children are the most open to the Gospel. We’ve discovered that when children hear a Bible story, they go right into the home with the...

Standardization and Decentralization
Sanskrit for “He goes/walks” is “सः चलति ।(saḥ calati ।)”, “सः हिण्डते ।(saḥ hiṇḍate ।)” among other literally infinite possibilities but these are the commonly used and accepted ones for this usage. If you generally, ask a Sanskrit knowing person this question then he would most probably answer it as the first, even if you asked me I would answer it at first....

रू for Nepalese Currency
Our neighbor India has got it’s own Rupee symbol. Frankly, I didn’t like the symbol because it was unnecessary as रू would do the job the fine. The competition and controversy both would have been avoided. From a Nepali prospective this is nice, because the big India made it’s own custom symbol and we can use the symbol that has been in use for long time throughout India and...

The magic of 9
vimoh:
Multiply any number by 9 and then add the digits of the result — the final number is always 9. So 9 x 2 = 18 and 8 + 1 = 9. Similarly, 9 x 10 = 90 and 9 + 0 = 9. I am quite liking this, so here is another example: 9 x 1256 = 11304 and 1 + 1 + 3 + 0 + 4 = 9.

On Firefly
I am not generally interested in science fiction because today the modern theoretical physics and quantum mechanics is itself like science fiction. Hollywood style Science Fiction drama never interested me but Firefly was different. Firefly didn’t have aliens in them, no teleporation, no time time travel. Firefly is one of those science fiction which breaks very few law of physics compared...
