*1 : “Hey, You even can’t play DVD in your favorite OS. I can play in mine.” “I can play but its illegal..”
*2 : ”What this jumble, how are you going to install it. Can’t even install a program what this rubbish..”
Its some of all complains one friend of mine complained me in our stay with my favorite OS. My xine couldn’t play CSS-encrypted DVDs on Linux and the jumble was generated when I started compiling vlc(in thought that it would play) which I couldn’t; generated error jumbles. After than I had to play it in Windows. I got to thought why I am using such rubbish which is very difficult indeed. Aren’t I motivated towards primitiveness? But I was able to help myself with the philosophy of free and open-source.
There might have been cases that philosophy stopped many Linux newbie to be motivated away from Linux. And I came up with FOSS/OC: The choice is ETHICAL OR TECHNICAL.
ETHICAL CHOICE:
The theme of free and open-source, the power of community and the pace of development is the major reason for Linux as a Ethical choice.
the freedom to use the software for any purpose,
the freedom to share the software with your friends and neighbors,
the freedom to change the software to suit your needs, and
the freedom to share the changes you make.
These four freedoms that we are getting is the best to win all the motivation. The want of Freedom is the deserved one. The Linux being the powerful block of the free and open-source movement the use is being more and more. The satisfaction we get using freedom of linux 2007 is far more better than features than the dead Vista and rotten Leopard of 2099. We even can’t imagine the world without choice. The choice provided by the FOSS/OC(Free and Open Source Software/Open Contents) is the one that powers the world, innovates the thought, blossoms the prosperity of knowledge.
TECHNICAL CHOICE:
The knowledge that we can expand technically is through FOSS/OC is far more bettar than being in a control. The power of UNIX that Linux utilizes, the things we can learn form the community and powerful we can be. As the choice increases the power divides making one more powerful the availability of many distribution justifies the division of power. Motivation towards FOSS/OC through technical features is simple a unexplorer desire of one’s ethics and a attraction for it. The newbie of Linux is the expert of other closed-source. One enters the emerging world of freedom when one is suppressed. That’s why technical choice for linux is the attraction of emerging world.
Finally, technical choice simply a reason to join the revolution, motivation is the internal will for freedom.
